Tony developed ITP post Covid vaccination

Tony

Tony has always been active, working long hours for a retail company while working in a commercial kitchen at weekends.

His doctor described him as “Mr Satisfactory” as all his bloodwork was always fine. Now Tony is disabled, has a blue badge and struggles to walk the one block to the local hospital where he has regular appointments.

“I was fit, I had nothing wrong with me I just did what I was told to do!”

Tony had his third vaccination in February 2022 and life continued as normal. However in early March he started to feel under the weather, struggled to breathe and then in summer he had an minor infection in his leg that swelled up and wouldn’t heal…and then his whole immune system spiralled out of control and even walking was difficult.

In September, he was hospitalised with platelet levels that were almost fatally low. Tests revealed a blood clot on each lung and a pattern of blood clotting that the hospital couldn’t explain. He remained in hospital for 14 weeks.

Due to his GP’s dedication and the care he received in hospitals, Tony survived what is now known to have been Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura. His medical notes for 2022 alone fill 8 lever arch files.

At one point Tony was transferred to a ward dedicated to those with vaccine side effects. Despite that, no doctor has admitted any causal link.

“Doctors either look away, go silent or say “I can’t comment” but they then say “But off the record…” So far I haven’t had one doctor say “I don’t believe you when I say this has all happened since the vaccine.”

However, after Christmas he had to be readmitted for a five week stay. Again his care was exemplary but the damage is likely to be permanent.

“I try to lead a normal life but every time I think I’m back to normal, I try walking but I can only walk probably 50 yards. Am I disabled? You bet I’m bloody disabled and it’s not by my doing.”

Being part of UKCVFamily has helped Tony as he realises he is not the only one with a similar outcome. Tony’s focus is on gaining recognition for those who have suffered vaccine injuries and been even less lucky than him.

“I see UKCVFamily as like the TV show Band of Brothers. Together we support each other, and campaign for justice!"
